Can’t find that number in the Greenberg’s 2010 pocket priceguide for Lionel. That item could have been made to sell at Target stores, I have a few items that are not in the Greenberg’s book also and were bought at Target store.
If the item is in a Lionel box and the numbers match the boxlid, there is a very strong chance the item isn’t cataloged for some reason, however it is made by Lionel.
Even some pre-war stuff don’t make it to the price guide books, however the stuff has been around for almost 65 years and not in a pricegide?[:^)]

It’s not in the 2011 book either. But there is a 17714 CN in there. Here is a Grzyboski’s listing for a 17706:

However, it is described as Great Northern. According to the book, this should be a 17710. Nothing seems to match up.
Here is what I found for the ACF Stockcars:
6-17704 - B&O ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17705 - Chicago, Burlington & Quincy ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17706 - no item found
6-17707 - PRR ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17708 - CP Rail ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17709 - UP ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17710 - GN ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17711 - C&O ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17712 - Norfolk & Western ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17713 - Missouri-Kansas-Texas ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17714 - Canadian National ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17715 - Missouri Pacific ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17716 - Chicago Great Western ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
6-17717 - UP ACF 40 Ton Stock Car
So either he has it mislabled or it could be something from a set break-up?
