Stock Yard/Cattle Holding Pen Kits

Sometimes I feel like building in N Scale is akin to the proverbial “beating your head against a stone wall”. So many times what you want just ain’t there.

Can anyone tell me of some N Scale stock yard or cattle holding pen kits with loading ramps. I can’t even find any on Ebay. It might be my fault through the use of erroneous terminology but I can sure use some help (again) on this one.

N-Scale Architect makes a stock yard kit that includes loading/unloading chutes:
http://www.the-n-arch.com/ (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

Various other companies make fences and loading ramps from which you can
assemble your own stock yards.

I scratch-built mine, based on info provided in a thread on the Prototype info board. Unfortunately, I don’t remember who “mentored” me on this, and this was before they reworked the MR website, but there are a few real experts out there!! If you’re real interested, I can probably shoot some pictures.

FritzvB,

You will find a great series of diagrams from which you can do coversions to N scale in Finescale Railroader presents The 2006 Narrow Gauge Annual ( September 2005 issue vol 9, number 3).

Crystal River Products offers laser cut stock pen kits but I am not sure what scale.

Fritz: type “cattle pen” in the search block, below & then pick some of the stuff written by Dr. Wayne or Leighant. Some great pix, references & discussion in that thread!

Thanks to all for all the offers and advice. I think I’ll give the N Scale Architect kit a shot. I’m not much at scratch building but I’m pretty good at modifying kits to my own specs. N Scale Architects looks like it’s got the situation very well covered.

Have fun with that. Let us know how they work out.

I built and designed the corrals on our farm, so scratch building is more fun for me.
