Streamlined sleeper interior parts,

Hey all,

Is there a source of sleeper interior parts, thats in production! for '40s and '50s streamlined sleepers?

Thanks,
Alvie.

Alvie,

What scale?

What brand of cars are you working on?

HO,

These are for cars I’d like to build up using NKP-car sides and TSP core kits.

Thanks again,
Alvie.

AlvieCo,

Would the IHC kits work for you? I’ve been buying them for my Rivorossi streamlined cars. At first they look cheap, but with some painting and detailing they actually look pretty decent, especially when you consider that the view through the window from the outside is limited.

Cheers!

Hi Antonio,

I may try something similar to that.

FYI to all, I’m not to interested in making contest cars now, just something that would look pretty good with figures inside as well.

Another question, does Walthers sell the interiors to their Budd cars seperately? most of the cars I want to build up are 10-6’s, but they’ll be modeled after Southern and N&W prototypes, not those of the Union Pacific, which I know the Walthers car represents.

I guess the interior piece should work well with some modifications.

Thanks,
Alvie.

Also check with Palace Car Co. Contact info is Plainsman Manufacturing, Box 973, Kearney, NE 68848-0973, Tel: 308-238-5099. Kits run about $18.

Hi Alvie,

I haven’t checked lately but I will.

But when you think about it, it’s doubtful that Walther’s would sell the interiors separately as this is one of the selling points of the Walther’s passenger cars. The new interiors do look better than the old IHC/Rivorossi interior kits.

But as I pointed out on another post, after painting my IHC interiors [:D] The key again is to stick with Flat Neutral colors (Tans, Browns, Pullman Green, Dark Reds, Dark Blues. Stainless Steel for Kitchens and bathrooms.)

As mentioned above, try out Palace Car Company. IMHO, impressive!

Palace doesn’t sell any interiors for streamlined sleepers. I just got done scratch building interiors for my for my brass car sides using the TSP core kits. I used sheet Evergreen styrene for the partitions and will be using styrene to construct the interior fixtures such as the berths. I also won’t be doing all the rooms because I will just have the shades all the way down in a few of the rooms. Below are pics of a Santa Fe 4-4-2
“Regal” and a 10-6 “Palm” sleeper interior. They were a bit of a pain, but worth it in the long run.
