Dude, I’ll trade ya these Kadees for those horn-hooks of yours…
Hi everyone:
Your comments are all very funny.
How about:
“I’ll never search for model trains on eBay ever again!”
“I don’t want any more of those…”
“I tell my wife about every single penny I spend on train stuff”
“That’s too detailed”
“I’m happy that I have so many different types of decoders in my locomotives”
“I love working with things I can hardly see”
“My hands get steadier every day”
“This is a waste of my time”
“Letting the smoke out of a decoder is a great way to learn”
“I love the challenge when a locomotive won’t run smoothly (or at all)”
“DCC is a breeze!”
Dave
Honey, this new locomotive cost $1999.95
Enjoy
Paul
I think I’ll just throw away this…
Boy, those rusty ol’ corrugated buildings with faded signs on them and machinery in them sure are eyesores.
This nasty old sagebrush will never have any use.
There’s an article on that very subject in my extensive collection of Model Railroader magazines, Why, Yes here it is right where I thought it was, that was easy…
Creosote stinks.
Oh, Making the first one of those was easy, and then making an exact matching copy of it was even easier.
It’s so cute when my wife’s cat jumps up there.
I love how superglue just flows in and dries only on the part’s it’s supposed to.
Thank goodness when I dropped that tiny thing on the floor, it was easy to find, cuz it’s important and the only one I have.
I can’t get it working right. I’ll just go to bed and not think about it.
“Sure dear, I didn’t mind you giving our five year old nephew some of my toy trains to play with.”
You obviously don’t get sidetracked like I do from time to time.[sigh]
Cheers, the Bear.
I will research that area on Bing and Google maps.
That “S” curve will work at normal switching speed.
I won’t buy cars and locomotives that is too long for my 22" radius curves.
I will study the kit plan before building.
“I built this kit EXACTLY as the instructions say”.
Things you will never hear a Model railroader say:
"what is Walschaerts gear "?
“No, I am NOT addicted to trains”
“That model is too expensive at $20”
“What is a {2-8-2} Mike/Mikado?”
“I am sitting to close to the tracks for good railfanning”
" I already have that model,and I don’t need anymore"
“No, honey, I am NOT addicted to Trains!”
“Model Power/TYCO made quality trains”
“I wish Model Power was back in business”
“I am NOT addicted to trains!”
“That train came out of nowhere!”
"I wish there wasn’t a Steam/tourist line SO CLOSE to my ho
Why would I spend $30 on a Westerfield Ma & Pa boxcar, when I can buy an undecorated boxcar for $5 and add some Ma & Pa decals? Who would notice?
The railroad that I am modeling does not have any tunnels nor high bridges, so I won’t have tunnels and high bridges on my layout.
Why would someone spend $400 on a craftsman kit? It’s basically of box full of scrapwood, cardboard and some metal castings
If you think my model railroad layout is neat, you should see my slot car track- it’s much cooler!!!
Gosh, don’t those old Life-Like train sets look realistic?
What’s so interesting about trains, anyway?

Your last one really hit home, especially when visitors ask, “When will you be done with it??”
There is a guy in another train forum who essentially said something like that just recently when he got back from the last Timonium show - he was really disappointed and didn’t menion any purchases. Felt like it was a wast of his time - I’m paraphrasing. I went and while it was a summer how, I found it a nice treasure hunt
I’ll bet you there are a lot of younger model railroaderse who say that. That one really depends on age.
I’ve never heard myself say that.
Those are my thoughts. One thing I’ve learned after many years in the hobby is never say never!
Cheers, Jim
My vintage Tyco collection is way better than that silly brass stuff.
John Allen is a legend. I see his name mentioned in MR and this forum all the time. Other model railroad masters of today say they get their inspiration from him.
It’s 'bout time they tore down that abandoned roundhouse. We need that land for the new mall.
“I did it right the first time”
“The CAD program took all the guess work out of planning. I will never make changes”
MMMM Doggy. That dirt in the oven smells just like Prime Rib!
What’s a blue box kit?
“At these prices, RTR Kadee cars really should come with horn hook couplers factory installed.”
“The NMRA would get more members if they’d just raise their dues.”
“What this hobby needs is more limited runs and advertisements for products that don’t yet exist.”
