Substitute for PermaScene

I am trying to find a substitute for PermaScene (can’t find anywhere). This is a component needed for “Ground Goop” I found in a instructional book.

Is there any alternatives for a general purpose ground cover you can apply with a spatula?

Your help and ideas much appreciated.

Yes-- there is another thread dealing with this.

However, what Lou Sassi recommends is to use Vermiculite. I just picked up a bag from Lowes tonight. It looks like a mix of dark and lighter sawdust. I thought it would be those little white ball like things you find in potting soil. But that is Perlite. Which is not what you want.

This looks great and Lou says it is used as a “filler” to make the Celluclay go further. Which is good because that is expensive for the size.

Hope this helps.
