Sunday Photo Fun 01-04-09

Switches now connect the loops.

The 248 has a new home in the new Fortner Yard in the above photo and below.

New tracks for an engine house and the newly expanded Baker Field

jonadel - My wayword “kittie” sure looks at home on your pike, and MAN do I love that shay pic!!!

cnw1995 - Really spreading your “wings” there, Doug.

Buckeye - some good looking head-end power there.

railfan23 - Like that tinplate. Flamingos aren’t bad either, but I do love that palm.

Buckeye: Great photos!

Doug: Looks great! That is a lot of track.

Kurt

Very nice photos guys. Nice to see Frank53 back with some updates. Got some good work going on there Frank. You have a lot of talent sir!

Dennis

Looking good Doug! I love it! [:D] Sir James - that is a lot of track! I think that one is part of a reversing loop and the ones in back up high go around the back of the room, eventually to another room through a wall, is that it? Lots of great stuff today, thanks for sharing everyone!

The first picture is on a two track around the room loop(s)the second picture is an incline that connects the two loops to the train table that is at a lower level. Look down at plasticville and that is the table level.

Wow, great photos and great scenery. Wish I was not lazy and got to scenery. Too many irons in the fire. Can always depend on Frank53 to do a great job. Glad to see him sharing with us again. Missed it.

Welcome back Frank53. Always enjoy seeing your work.

Great photos this week.

Frank53 always glad to see your post welcome back

All the pics are simply awesome - like always.

Frank53 - Sir it is a joy to see you posting again. Welcome back! Your layout is simply put, a site, and we all hope to see more of it in the coming months. Do you still maintain the website on it?

Thank you very much for your comments.

My wesbite is woefully behind, didn’t get a chance to work on it all last year. Hopefully this year, although it is still active.

The step by step layout thread I started in 2005 is slowly being updated to include the work I did in 2008 - it can be found in the usual spot.

I did manage to pick up some new post war items in 2008 - including this one - - a post war 1656 bell ringing switcher in nearly excellent shape

Always learn something from studying Frank’s photos - notice the pipe detail and how the ground cover grows up a bit to the portal instead of mimicing a 90 degree angle.

Well, Winter weather has hampered progress on the layout and I had to fall back to a ‘Carpet Central’ for Christmas this year. But progress is being made once again due to an easing up of snowy weather. It’s still quite cold however and my fingers freeze while out working on the layout in the driveway. Soon I’ll move everything inside and progress will accelerate dramatically. Just have to get the sub-roadbed and track positioned before moving inside.

Birdseye view with my designated ‘clearance car’ to check tunnel clearances & portal positioning. Stryker the cat ( Chief track inspector ) is taking the day off and is enjoying the warm confines of my living room. He’s watching me through the front window.

The small inside loop climbs to a cross track and will travel around the edge of the upper level above a siding that is largely inside a tunnel on the ground level. Access holes will be placed at intervals along the side boards in the foreground to retrieve derailed trains and cars. On a train’s second pass over the cross track it will then descend back to the ground level.
