Sunday Photo Fun 8/1/04

Here’s my contributions for this weeks post.

This is an overhead shot of downtown Elm Springs. There’s still vacant property to be filled and people to add.

A street level view of Main Street.

The bank at dusk…

My interpretation of the station at Glenwood Springs, CO, now the Elm Springs station.

That’s it for this week. I’ve a couple left for next week.

Great looking layout pics Roger. I have misplaced the digital camera so I will enjoy all of yours this week…Tim

Good Morning All,
Great pic Roger. Tim, you got to find that camera.

This week we are going to share one of the first Steam engines with sound. This is the Lionel Sound of Steam Set from 1971, (number 1199).

The storage Styrofoam for the cars was molded to also be houses.

The engine is the basic 4-4-2.

The cars were all plastic with plastic trucks. One truck was made with a molded closed coupler and the other truck had a working coupler. This was one way of cutting cost.

and the steam engine doesn’t smoke like an MTH

So you can here what this sounded like, we have posted a VIDEO

So click on this link below (Sound of Steam Video) and then click on the file name.

Scott, where did all that smoke come from?

That smoke was all produced by my re-painted Texas Railking (Proto 1) engine. It is now a Lexington & Eastern (kentucky) 4-4-0. The engine was in a tunnel and the passenger area is also covered confining the smoke in a small area
