Good morning everyone.
I finally got my UPS engine last week!! I’m glad I bought it but why did Lionel advertise it will have trainsounds and it did not come with trainsounds.[V] Also, why are the vents (white) I thought they would be the color of the shell?
Also, this is my first modern era diesel and you can see the circuit board behind the engineer.[sigh] Is this normal too? I realize I did not pay $600 for it but, it was still more than the starter engines at $100.
Overall it looks nice pulling all the UPS freight cars.[:)]
Some video for your viewing pleasure. High speed connection recommended.
The lead units are Williams Genesis Engines, with the powered unit converted to TMCC/RS using a TAS kit. Williams can pull stumps. The passenger cars are used MTH. When I found them, they needed repair. Work perfect now! [:D]
Great shots!! Here’s a few!

It was a beautiful day here in the Twin Cities. Nice pics everyone. Here is a little under and over shot.
Basic NEW layout is done, have a little more to do. At least the tracks are done!
And a little video for you Florida East Coast fans:
Thanks Laz, I will check them out next month.
Well, it is time to show my work. Soundstop down and painted.
- Drop down fixed and works:
- Drop Down up and working:
- Right side of big room ready for divider between mainlines and mining section:
- Left side ready for some filler between tracks to make loading and undlaoding area flat for crane and trucks:
- John Deere factory area and Frank 53’s Clutch Factory scene:
- Back room and storage track [notice Lionel sawmill is now added]:
Three layers of Celetex Soundstop on all surfaces in big room and one layer in back room.
All for now.
Great pics everybody - starting to really like those prewar trains, envfocus. Chief, looks like you have a great layout shaping up. Does that tile you put down really soak up the noise?
Nice pictures all,
This week my burro crane arrived. As advised by laz57 I took off the hood and oiled the motor shaft. That reduced the noise (a bit) but it still doesn’t need electronic sound [:D]
Also I put up a small video on youtube, since there was not one burro crane on it.

It works fine though. A real clever design, using the same axle to turn the cab and lower/rise the hook reduces the needed space. Also it’s speed is quite realistic. But one of the comments on the video was “how did they put a lawnmowermotor in such a small crane”, which says enough about the noise [8D]
It is not tile. It comes in 4X8 sheets and is soundproofing. It is the equlivant to Homasote but less than half the price.
Lithuanian semi-trains Out of a sense of filial piety, my daughter returned with photos and cavier. I belief the cavier was Russian.
Great photos guys
NICE PICS ALL.
CHIEF,layouts looking GOOD, keep up the good work.
