My 112 no longer works properly since a train began going through the switch from the curve while the switch was set straight. The non-derailing feature doesn`t work properly. Now the switch “fish tales” when I try to switch to curve. I have rearranged the wires to no avail. Is the switch permanently broken? Is there a remedy?
Don’t get me started… Seriously, there’s a thread on here that I started about Super-O 112s, do a quick search for more info. In your case, it sounds like something may be causing your anti-derailing feature on your straight section to be permanently energized, so when you try to switch to the diverging route, there’s still current somewhere telling your switch to switch to the straight route. Maybe one of your insulating pins isn’t doing it’s job, possible contacting the outside rail on the straight’s anti-derailing rail.
I suggest you read the thread on 022 switch pblms. It contains a lot of information which is useful for any switch. I wrote some long posts on rebuilding 022 switches which can apply to any switch.
