While reading the post on Lionel Fast Track , I couldn’t help but wonder
about Super O Track. Has anyone heard any news out of Lionel concerning Super O Track?
Super O seemed quieter than tubular track while being far more realistic than both O Gauge Track and Fast Track. It also worked well with Magna-Traction engines because the outer rails were connected, something I don’t think Atlas or Gargraves does.
It seems that every so often rumors surface claiming that Lionel will bring back Super O Track, but Lionel’s never confirmed them. I would sure like to see them bring it back and in wider radius curves.
Can’t tell you whether Lionel will reissue “Super O”, BUT, the tooling still exists. Ocassionally one sees road bed that is red, black, white and the like. This is from testing of the tooling that is done periodically.
However, if you interest is “Super O”, take a look of the below 2 links:

Many think “Super O” still is the best looking track ever produced.
Very best,
Mike
PS I continually buy and sell all “Super O” trackage.
Lionel will make anything as long as the demand warrants. Gargraves tinplated rail works great with magnetraction and has a similar rail configuration to super O.
Lionel would be competing with the secondary market for orgional super O. Used super O in excellent condition sells for less than what re-issued super O would sell for.
