Superliner II Interior help

I need to know what is the interior color scheme for the Superliner II cars. I need to know what colors to use so I can paint the interiors of the new Walthers Superliners.

The Amtrak website has the “Virtual Tour” with several interior shots of the rooms, in full color. Just click on the different types of accomodations under the “Onboard” heading, then the rooms within the diagram for photos showing the full interior colors.

Before I get into what paint colors I’m thinking of trying, you’ll likely want to bookmark the following websites.

Website 1

For Superliner II cars this website is an invaluable resource. It has 360 photos of Superliners, and they all are mostly Superliner II’s. Although the trainset is the Coast Starlight (traditionally an all Superliner II train), the coach appears to be a Superliner I coach.

Website 2

Here is another good website with Superliner II interior photos. The diner and lounge are definitely Superliner II’s. The sleeper is a I, while the coach also appears to be a I. I don’t see any emergency lights on the floor so I’m guessing it’s a Superliner I coach.

Website 3

Here’s a website with interior photos of a refurbished Superliner I sleeper. Although it’s not a Superliner II so this site may not be too helpful.

Paint

I’m currently looking for good color matches with Polly Scale paint. Here’s what I’m heading toward at this point:

Sleepers

For the walls I’m looking at Polly Scale Dust. For the sleeping car seats I’m thinking CSX Blue. The floors in the sleeping car rooms are a darker blue so perhaps C&O Enchantment Blue. There are some lighter blue floors and walls in refurbished cars so perhaps D&H Avon Blue for this. Not sure for the pink/mauve color seen in Superliner II’s or the wood paneling seen in refurbished sleepers.

Diners + Lounge

For the Superliner II lounge and diner chair cushions, CSX Blue. The seat backs/side Polly Scale Dust. The

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. I currently have some acrylic craft paints that are close to those colors. I’ll have to mix some colors but I think it will work.

The websites were extremely helpful.

I found a video on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyo9FOBkyMYon YouTube that I think is a Superliner II coach.

I am having trouble determining what color the walls are and on the stairs.

Looks to be all Superliner I cars except the diner, which makes sense for the Zephyr. Note the narrow metal strip along the floor (to the left) in the dining car. These warning/emergency lights are the easiest way to tell from the inside if the car is a Superliner I or II. You can actually see in the upstairs galley a glowing green light. Another part of a Supelriner II only safety light system.

Looks like the wall color in the coaches vary from white to blue.

What’s a “Rounge” car? [(-D] Interesting spelling for the Lounge.

Painting the interiors is an excellent idea. Keep in mind that dark colours don’t show up very well. I’d use light colours in the same pattern as the dark ones. Passengers will make a big difference too. A bit pricey to add but passengers especially in the lounge make a big difference.
