Sweethome Alabama on the road again (HO)

Sweethome Alabama was a visitor to Hartlepool Model Railway Show last weekend. Everything went together as intended and the layout worked well throughout the 2-day show. Many favourable comments were received from Joe Public, especially regarding the trees, which is no mean feat for a US-outline layout at a British show.

Here are some photos taken at the show, shot in natural daylight, which is quite a rarity for a model railway show, being more used to being shown in a windowless sports hall.

Thanks for sharing Jon, always enjoy seeing the layout… [tup]

A few more photos from the show. I don’t usually get the opportunity to photograph the layout from above.

The fiddle yards in action, including some of the hurriedly-completed cabooses I knocked together for the show

Jon, really nice photos. Shows a lot of the details.

Jon,

Thanks for the photos. And it looks just as good from a top view as it does from the side. I really enjoy and envy your talent. Tom

Jon, is that all your layout? If it is, how big is it?

You are a true master! [bow]

Looks just like Nothern Alabama! Jon, great job!

Nice layout…and nice flags. Lake, no need to take offense…I’m quite sure the poster was not using them with ill intention.

Sweethome Alabama is my 4th layout (I still have two of the others - Hudson Road - British OO in the snow- and Sweethome Chicago- HO). It is currently 27ft from end to end, but I have a cunning plan to extend it by another 4ft before its next outing in October (Cardiff, Wales)

As a Southern boy (albeit from SC), I say you have pretty well nailed the look of the Southeast…trees, trees, river, highway bridge, trees, trees, and did I mention trees? Always love the pics, keep them coming!

Great looking layout
