Switch machines

Hello,

I have manual Atlas custom line switches right now and have been thinking of getting switch machines.

What would be a low cost way about doing it?

What do you have? Above ground Atlas or below the table?

Recommendations, Pros and Cons?

Just curious.

Thanks,

Mark

Tortise; cost is not that much different, much more reliable, will last more than your lifetime, and are easily re-used.

i switched from the manual Atlas switches to the Tortoise switches, when I bought them on sale $12 each a few years ago. Easy to install, reliable, and keep constant pressure on the switch.

I recently switched to tortoise after using atlas under table. The tortoise machines are much more forgiving on installation and require a smaller hole. I don’t regret switching.

I agree – throw away the Atlas switch machines and use Tortoise or SwitchMaster stall-motor switch machines. These perform much better and keep a constant pressure on the point rails for good electrical contact. They also require less wiring.
