I am using levers to operate my turnouts and would like to mount switch stands and have them operate via wire to my turnouts, i was thinking of Details West switch stands. Their is two types. would someone know which is best Type 1 or Type 2
The difference is the position of the ‘bolts’ & the size/shape of the base. I am not sure if either will actually ‘operate’ from your turnouts throwbar. I suspect they are basically a ‘scenery’ item. Both models are a pretty basic switch stand with a tall ‘mainline’ target.

The Detail West switchstands are not operable only a scenery item. They do look good but if you want an operable switchstand check out Caboose Industries number 204 switchstand. It is made to operate like a real switchstand but might be modified to fit your needs. The switchstand comes with a lantern and several types of targets.
