Switch track height

my 022 swithch seems slightly higher than adjoining tracks causing a slight bump such that when the train crosses it stops wanting to reverse.

Im unable to push track down and it’s not loose. is there a height difference because the switches are on a base? How do I align the heights so I have a smooth transition.

Also, in general, I find the switches tend to cause a derailment when lighter cares pass.
Any thoughts?

It sounds like you are using O-27 track with “O” switches, but we would need a photo to confirm.

Definitely using O gauge.

Saw a possible cause when reading about switch track problems. (boy those switches can be a pain!)

Seeing my layout is on carpet one writer on the switch blog suggested the train might depress the carpet just before the switch entry causing the height difference. (?maybe) He suggested a piece of carboard beneath the track to keep all level . I’ll try that next. When does the fun running the trains start?!

Every fun activity has its stumbling blocks. Most are pretty easy to sort out; some take a little more work. A picture really would help us help you.
