could texas&pacific 610 run on the grand canyon rr
Don’t know are there any weight limiting bridges? I know it sits in its shed down in Palestine at the Texas State Railroad. Far as I know should be in good enough condition to start up and run but the bridges on the TSR are too lightweight to handle it. Someone somewhere should run it!
No would never run on the GCRY. It would cost the Railway too much to restore it. But, the idea of running, is great!
Without knowing what condition the locomotive is in, it is hard to say what the restoration costs would be. Given that it ran relatively recently (25 or so years ago), if it has been stored inside and received minor care, it could be restored fairly easily. Of course, if it was parked outside in 1981 and no one has touched it since, it would probably be an enormous job.
Its stored indoors on the Palestine side of the line. I know when they rail fan weekends they will pull it out so people can see it.
