I have new info on the loco!
This unit is not a B unit! this loco is run long hood forward and the ditch lights are mounted on the other side. my dad has seen this unit around and said the ditch lights were mounted for long hood forward.
I thought it kind of cool myself!!
I have pictures of a tac train I got, and a couple other units too! You should like this Dingoix!
Those pictures bring back memories! As a kid, about 12 years ago, I saw these units very frequently on CP freights that went through my town. They were always as B units with their windows blanked out. As memory serves me, it wasn’t long after I started seeing them (perhaps only a year) before I stopped seeing them altogether. I’ve never seen another since then. I remember that they were the first engines I ever saw with the “CP Rail System” logo and the Canadian and American flags. Actually, if memory serves me correctly, for a time they were the only engines I saw on trains with that logo. I was only 8 or 9 at the time and had almost forgotten about them. Out of sight, out of mind. It’s great to find out what happened to them! Thanks so much for sharing them and taking me back to my younger days of railfanning!

some more interesting photos james, and have only seen high hood SD’s in magazines, thats also interesting that they run the unit long hood forward, but isn’t that dangerous? because of the long hood that the engineers vision is impaired???[?][?][?][?]
You are correct the locomotive was a former Southern Rwy. locomotive. However
the N&W did have one batch of high-nosed SD40-2s, their first batch 1625 - 1635 were built with high-noses.
