Take the mess out of plaster and screen scenery.

Plastering over alum screen was a bit messy but I really enjoy the effects from crumpling, wodding, twisting and tweeking the screen to get some great effects for my mountain railroadroad.

I spray the flat screen with an adheasive, then apply plastic kitchen wrap on one side. After a few minits I work the screen by the methods above, straighten it somewhat and hot glue to my layout. Is easy to attach another screen by poking an awl through it and let the weight of the handle hold the two pieces togather as I hot glue it.

Then I water down the drywall mud untill its about like a milkshake, and brush it on. It wont flow to the floor and is not messy. After the first thin coat drys I add more layers. Also Geodesic foam scenery products hot glue up on a light coat as well. Then I paint it with a mismatched earth tone latex from my local paint store, usually a few dollars per gallon

Just a few thoughts as this method is cheaper then most, giving good results…John

I’ve used window screen, cardboard strips, foam, etc. For large areas, I like the cardboard strips, hot glued or stapled together to make the terrain. I then drape dry plaster cloth over it. Once I get it all in place, I spray the plaster cloth with a sprayer and water. Once the plaster cloth sets up, you have a firm base to apply more plaster but little mess from dripping through. The nice thing about it is that by pulling and tweaking the plaster cloth, it’s easy to form ridges, etc.
