Tam Valley makes some great electronic miracles and I have enjoyed successfully using them especially for remote switched and Wireless DCC control of turnouts… outdoors! This article on combining 2 Products from different manufacturers offers hope for overcoming one of the current problems with RC battery Control of locomotives… the non-compatibility between receivers and transmitters of differing manufactures. My question, which the manufactures do not seem to want to answer, is: “Will the Airwire Convertr (receiver) work with the NCE G Wire cab throttle (transmitter)?” Kevin Strong approached this question a long while back but I have never found his answer.
A simpler solution to all of this would be if the Tam Valley DRS1 received on multiple Channels, rather then just Channel 16 (of the 916.49 MHz band). Perhaps the ultimate solution would be the use of 2.46GHz TX and RX which eliminates range and frequency/interference problems. Am I so naïve that I don’t realize it all comes down to money and profit? Thanks for any response from anyone, Jim Matthews
