Saw a freshly outshopped former “next load any road” yellow RBOX today that is now a TBOX. I know TTX owns RBOX but when did they start putting TBOX markings and a TTX logo on them? This is the first I have seen. Everything else was still the same as far as painting goes.
ndbprr look closelly at a TBOX or FBOX the next time you see 1… RBOX and ABOX are 50 ft regular height boxcars built during the boxcar boom of the 70’s . RBOX has 1 single sliding door while ABOX has both a sliding door and a partial plug door. The TBOX is a 50ft
high cube double door car while the FBOX has a single sliding door. TBOX and FBOX were in service within the last 5 yrs.
Hope this helps
Tom
TBOX boxcars have about 60’ interior length and double plug doors. FBOX have about 50 foot interior length and one 10’ or 12’ plug door.
i dont know wat you are talkin about
The thread is about the different types of boxcars owned by the Trailertrain subsidiary, Railbox.
RBOX, ABOX, TBOX, and FBOX are all reporting marks (the initials in a car number) used by that company.
RBOX cars are 50 ft inside length, plain boxcars with a 10’ wide sliding door.
ABOX cars are 50 ft inside length cars with a a plug door and a sliding door.
TBOX and FBOX cars are newer car with a higher interior height.

Well live and learn! Mostly what I see on the IC in the Chicago area is covered hoppers hauling grain south and tank cars coming north from the chemical corridor.
Also, keep an eye out for the new IBOX insulated box cars.
