If I get your idea(You are talking about model couplers, putting wire on horn-hooks and the other end looping around the knucke coupler?) it would probably slip off when there was slack.
I have absolutely NO idea how to model couplers! I’m a better railfanner than model railroader. To me, railfanning is more fun, because you’re dealing with the actual thing, where model railroading is just models, instad of the real thing!! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE model railroading, but I’m just saying I like railfanning better!!!
(Probably because I love working with cameras and enjoyng the fresh air, etc.)
Oscaletrains, European couplers(the models, not the real things) are much different from anything found in the US, nothing like Kadee’s or Horn Hook couplers. I belive they are known as the “Hook and Loop” style, or something like that anyway. Basically, the couplers have a loop on them, and there is a hook that extends out beyond that loop slightly. It is made to piviot up and down, so when another car is backed into it, the hook moves upward, and goes over the closest part of the loop before comming down again. When both cars do this, a good coupling is made, and the cars can be easily backed up for moved forward.
It’s actually kind of hard to describe, and I somehow doubt I did a very good job. But, I will be sure to post pictures of the couplers when I get pics of the rest of the car up.
Well guys, I’m heading out for the night. I more than likely won’t be in tomorrow either, as I’m going to a meeting of my local module Club. Were hoping to get the layout fully wired and assembled for the first time, and maybe even run a train all the way around the loop. It really will be a big accomplishment considering the group has only been around for about a year.
See ya around,
Noah
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Time for some trivia. They don’t come any better than Bergie.
Welcome back Lotus!! Little while, no see!! It’s nice to have you back! We all missed you!!!
Looking forward to Sunday, as I already said a million times, I’ve got that cab ride!!! Can’t wait!!!
James! I was wondering whe you’d come! Where’ve ya been, man?
I too prefer railfanning to modeling, but only if there are trains!
Tomorrow I have a big math test, that is going to be sooo fun…
Matthew, admit, do you like school??? Because a good majority of everyone I talk to says they don’t or didn’t. Just curious.
Also, what exactly do you mean by “but only if there are trains!” Are you saying you don’t like to railfan as much as MR when it is a slow day out?
…
O’ boy I’m gonna go rail fanning tomorrow maybe! Im not sure ! I might go get some cheese burgers and sit by the tracks I’ve got one pic left on my camera! I guess I’ll waist one on that lol! I really want a good shot of a NS That I took for my back ground on my desk top! I had alot of fun today at the museum though!
Okay, what is all this shniz-naz about this European Museum or whatever? I’ve been hearing too much about it, and was wondering.
BTW, this is my 700th post!!! Can’t wait to get to 800!!! Yay, LOL!!!
…
Oh, I hate school. Especially online school. I’m taking both, and so I have a normal week of school followed by a test on sturday, then 10 hours of programming the lights on sunday…
And a long day sitting by the tracks being bored isn’t as fun as getting a few feet of ballast down. Not by a long shot. Walking along the tracks, yes, but just sitting…all alone…with nothing to do…
In the English city of York, there is a very big railroad museum, and a model railroad museum next door . It’s really sweet!
Goodnight all! I’ll be back tomorrow afternoong after my math test!
Welcome back James! It’s good to see you back, I’ve been waiting for you to show back up since Bergie first said you were comming back.
Richard, as Matt said, it’s in York, England. The Railroad Museum is home to a few famous locomotives, including the Mallard, the fastest steam loco on record(I think), the Flying Scottsman, the same one that is in Microsoft Train simulator, as well as a few other intersesting or unique railroad cars and locomotives. It’s really a great museum, and the town of York is great too(Especially a walk through the old downtown area). If you ever make it over to England, I highly recomend going there. I somehow doubt you won’t be totally unhappy, at least if you are into trains… [;)]
Well guys, I guess I did make it on quickly this morning, but I can’t stay long. I’ve got to go start loading up the car with the module and other things, as we are going to leave soon.
Noah
Yup, WC also owns a New Zealand Railway called Tranz Rail. A lot of the New Zealanders came to the WC after. Gotta go to my game, seeya guys. About the Alstom thing, I dont know why i said that lol.

We’re going to have to get going soon, so I can’t stay on. It goes from 10 am- 3 pm. I’ll let you know how they were!!!

Hi all…I can’t go railfanning, too much homework. Plus the fact that my parents have the camera…and I can’t do much now becasue my computer is so screwed up, its resolution is something like 320x200. I think I have a virus. Richard, guess how long your sig is in my eyes? 3 screens long! What a piece of s*** I have here! I’m currently running anti-virus, hope it helps. I’d say more, but I think my computer is about to crash.
HEY GUYS I’M BACK BUT THERE A PLACE THAT EVERBODY CAN COME ON OVER TO THAT I STARTED. HERE THE LINK SEE YOU OVER THERE.

Hey everybody. I didn’t manage to go railfanning today, but did pick up these four stills!! The SW1200 titled “ABC Railway”, was getting fueled. ABC stands for Akron Barberton Cluster. Out of 93 miles of track, only three ABC’s exist. Luckily, I spotted one today!!!
Enterance to the W&LE Akron (Brittain) Yard:
One of the two W&LE “Kodachrome” paint schemes:
Look closely and you can see the old NS markings on nose and long hood:
This is the one mentioned above:

nice pics, Richard!
I figured out the resolution was 320x240, how’s that for crappy? And 16 colours…at times I think it went to 4…but I finally got it somewhat fixed. Everything is still a bit pixelatted…
I tink I fa8iled my math exam, that really sucks.
I went to my public library today and picked up 6 CDs, it’s a great resource! On the way there and back, my water bottle froze solid! Imagine how I feel without gloves!
Ah well, time to get on my physics homework…
Hey Matt
Remember we talked about the need for virus protection and a firewall a while back. Some ISPs include one or both in their normal pricing and you can purchase them if you don’t have them included in your isp plan.
Hey guys [:)]
Do any of you know of free virus protection or firewalls for Matt ? That is in case he is too cheap to pay for one. [8D] You may not use a credit card over the comp, but still, do you want some idiot to screw up your comp simply because he can. [B)] [:(] I read that in China, in some college computer courses, that in order to pass the class you must successfully hack into a computer in the USA.
Trust me, you would be surprised how many hacking attemps occur every few minutes. My firewall will allow me to check if I want to. I stopped checking because all it did was make me MAD to see how many attemps occurred. IF you do not have virus protection and a firewall, I highly recommend you get them ASAP.
Because of the good info that was in the previous topic (locked now [:(] ) I have copied and pasted this snow plow info here again for us to see.

(Jim’s reply in previous thread)
I have a vid about SP fighting snow on Donner Pass. They only bring out the rotaries when the flangers cannot handle the snow. Rotary snow plows were invented in the 1860s, but were not actually built until some time later. (I love history, especailly when it involves trains. )
Here is a link for more info.

You all will love this site. Inside pics of a snow plow.
Well, I’m getting anxious!! Only several hours before my cab-ride!!! And before that, a train show!!!
Oh and BTW, the train show yesterday sucked!!! All Lionel and Rail King basically!!! And, this explains it all, it was in a restraunt!!!
I’ll let you know later on how things went today!
