For those of you on the English side of the pond our club has a small show in a month, there’ll be a small G scale display along the lines of those below.

The pics are a bit small, but from what I can make out, they look pretty cool.
Very small pics. But hay Crocks!!! (big electric fan) are they scrached or bought?
The pics should open in another larger window if you click on them, the hosting site I use does it this way to save dial up users getting no pics, it works on the other forums but it just repeats small here, hmmmm will investigate!.

Shame about the Pictures
The layout looks a little plain have you thought about making some interesting mini?? scenes say the size of an LP record this would add some visual interest to an otherwise flat layout.
Barrows, standing stones, village market, or maybe a very small cottage with some pot plants and a garden gnome the cemetery for the church the village bus stop, a very small halt.
All should be possible on or about the size of an LP and lightweight enough for transport to and from the exhibition hall.

There are several variations that we set up, one includes a ‘rockery’ that has a R1 oval raised about 8 inches high reaching to just over a foot overall. It’s topped off with a castle and some trees, I’ll dig out the photos.
Also that large flat area is there because the dump truck and front loader are Radio controlled, The truck gets loaded on the grey tiles - drives down to the loading ramp and dumps into the yellow side opening wagons - the Tm2/2 then drives them back to the loading area and, (this bit by hand at the mo), dumps them back by the front loader. The kids love it especially when it’s tins of sweets we shift. ( there is some method to the madness! )
We haven’t made any other cameo scenes but I like the idea as it would make an interesting model in itself if I built it on a MDF base. I fancy something really rustic.
I did start making a small stone circle, like stonehenge which is just up the road from me (Salisbury UK), in HO scale and put a turntable in it as an early roundhouse for a bit of fun at the club model competition but still haven’t finished it.

Funny you should mention standing stones I am currently chasing down some blue foam (ordinary white did not have the resilience I wanted)to make some I am just going to do two uprights and a lintel with some swirly patterns on the front and rock at the back with a skull and spiral might do a Barrow latter when I work out the best way to get a green glow on and in the interior
The decoration looks sort of Celtic and is based on the Warhammer game symbols for good guys and the bad guys from one of the campaign packs they did.
Sort of rustic how about a cottage based on the smallest cottage in the UK
I am told it is 8’X8’ I assume that’s the internal dimensions apparently there is a sort of half floor above the room that has the residents bed on it and is wattle and daub Err I think?? with a slate roof
I like the castle idea, knights made by Schleich are more or less the right size to stand on the battlements abusing the English as the modern police van arrives

The same mob that make the knights do a wizard and a rather nice green dragon the phoenix is way to big, from what I have seen the toy figures of Harry and his mates are too big as well
If that’s what it takes to grab the children’s attention and give them enjoyment that’s the theme to follow[:D].
There is always the cave and giant rabbit for the adults or knights and police van[:-^][swg]. Or why the sword is no basis for forming government[(-D]

I could be wrong but it almost looks like you have a helix at both ends?
There is a single helix at the far end in the above photo as they are quite common in Switzerland. The end nearest the camera is just a continuous gradient in a conventional U shape around the board. The gradient is a bit steeper but it was carefully measured to be as even as possible and I tested the locos with the maximum intended trains before commiting to it. I’ll upload the trackplan and post a link later.
As I built this at a friends place my Partner hadn’t actually seen it until last Christmas, upon seeing it she commented that it was very nice and she was relieved that it wasn’t LGB like she had assumed as she’d been worrying where it would go if I lost the space at my mates!
All this time and I could have been building a monster in G scale, WITH PERMISSION!!!
Talk about a missed opportunity.[sigh]
