im doing a scince fair project and i need how fast was a ten weelers top speed?
The speed of a steam locomotive depends on several factors, with size of the driving wheels being the most obvious one. Many North American 4-6-0’s were not designed as high-speed machines, a well-known example being the Pennsylvania’s G5, which was designed for suburban service.
In Great Britain and Europe, the 4-6-0 lasted longer in premier passenger service than in North America, and many were built for high speeds.
Why didnt you ask all these questions in one post?
