The Atlas HO scale EMD MP15 is a powerful diesel switcher
I purchased both the DC (Atlas Silver) and DCC (Atlas Gold) version of the C&NW MP15DC. Great locomotives! Smooth, great detail, and the gold version with sound, sounds…well…GREAT! For a modern layout, these are a must!
I HAD BEEN WAITING FOR A GOOD SWITHER WITH SOUND TO COME ONTO THE MARKET. MY WAITING IS OVER. I HAVE 2 IN SOUTHERN WITH SOUND AND LOVE THEM. THANKS ATLAS!!
I have a couple of the sound decoder versions, and they look and work great! They a re a little lighter than I had hoped, but otherwise they are excellent models. I especially like the fact that the sound does not come on when the layout is first fired up! It comes on as soon as the unit is addressed by a user on the DCC system. I have also put decoders into the non-decodered versions, and they also look and operate very well. It is great to finally have a modern switcher that looks and operates so well!
I purchased the Southern Pacific MP15DC Gold-series with sound and DCC decoder. Its my first Atlas Loco in my collection. Smooth and very quiet running, excellent decoration with fitted add-on parts, a nice Switcher. However, the good QSI Quantum sound fails on the bad speaker. It sounds distorted, even when reducing volume. I plan to remove the original speaker and to install a new unit with resonance capsule in the large fuel tank.
Just put the MP15DC on my layout and what a smooth runner! My P2K SW8/9 used to stall on the switch points no matter what I tried but the MP15 glides through at the slowest speed. Atlas has produced a winner in this locomotive.
Once again, Atlas has produced an outstanding product. I purchased the CSX MP15DC Gold-series with sound and DCC decoder and am extremely pleased. The engine is very quiet with excellent slow speed abilities. Detail is amazing as is the sound!! Way to go Atlas!!
I purchased the Silver Series (DC/no sound) and the slow speed operation of this switcher is nothing short of phenomenal. If you were looking for a switcher that can actually be used to slowly and smoothly switch cars, look no further. The unit is quiet and very smooth running. It will creep all day without hesitation or “stuttering”. The paint and detailing are likewise superb on my Southern Pacific unit. Good job, Atlas!
I purchased the DC (Atlas Silver) version of the Conrail and Amtrak MP15DC locomotives. ( My Amtrak model is in the gray switcher scheme). These are amazing models. They have AMAZING detail and prototypically accurate features. I absolutely enjoy running my Amtrak MP15 in work train service and my Conrail MP15 in yard and local switching service. EXCELLENT WORK ATLAS!
