Only 31 hours and 40 minutes (as at the writing of this message) until my vacation begins. And only 3 more weeks until I get my Alco RS-3 from Atlas (Canadian National road).
Can’t wait…but I will…lol

Nothing less productive than a short-timer. Go home. Spend the time saying good-bye to your trains.
Where are you going on your vacation and what are you going to be doing???

Thanks Chip…wish I could have a pre-vacation! Unfortunately, nothing could be farther from the truth. I have so many loose ends at work to tie up before I go that it’s going to be a crazy week.
As for where I’m going and what I’m doing…I’ll be heading home to the land of my birth, Newfoundland, to visit my Mom and Dad, and my Out-Laws. They’ll all be happy to get a few weeks with the grandkids. I plan on hanging out with my buddies and doing very little of anything. Maybe a few rounds of golf.
The railroad in Newfoundland shutdown in 1981 after a hundred years of operation. The Newfie Bullet is probably the most famous railroading icon from that era. Most people think the Newfie Bullet was a particular loco, but in fact it was actually a train line that ran across the province. The K4 4-6-2 was a common site on the Newfie Bullet in the old days, but for me, I remember the big CN Diesels as they passed by the provincial parks in the summer time. We used to ride our bikes as fast as we could to see the train pass by. And if we were fast enough and near enough when the train blew its horn we could get some pennies on the track to be flattened…aaaahh, sweet memories!
