I’ll take that right now! [dinner]
By the way, a series of storms are coming through my area starting tomorrow. We can definitely use the rain. [:)]

You can have the mushrooms, but the rest sounds good. Need a nice, hot bowl of soup, too. Temps in the -10 range with wind chills in the -25 range overnight in on into the morning. Good thing I get to sleep in!
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Until the @$%* Pager goes off!! When you go out of the house in that cold air,
you’re Instantly Awake, No Matter What Time of Day.(or Morning!)
…This cold snap is a nasty one. 12.6 degrees here right now. 7.3 this morning and they are forecasting a bit colder for tomorrow morning.
But…a “warm up” is on the way starting Friday. Monday should be up to about 58 degrees. Had sunshine much of the day today, but it didn’t get very “warm”. Look out Florida…tomorrow morning will be a bit chilly.
Good Thursay morning, everyone. It’s a tad bit warmer here this morning: current temp is 15, and the wind chill is 15 also. Supposed to get to a high of 33 later on. “Back to the 50s” by Saturday and Sunday. (Gee, “Back to the 50s” sounds like a song, doesn’t it?!?!) I’m already looking forward to warmer weather, so I can go sit out in the garden in the mornings, with my coffee!!
Coffee, juices, hot tea and hot chocolate are ready and waiting for you all. Mookie, even got your coffee mug down, and have filled it up for you.
On the warmer bar this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal & toast, fried taters, hash browns (giving you alll a choice of taters this morning), bagels and bear claws, and fresh cantaloupe chunks.
You all have a great morning, and stay warm!!
2nd day back in sanityland. If I would have had to spend one more hour in the house - helping someone buy a new house (choose one of 3), paint their interior a bright red, sanitize clams and oysters, have surgery on their hair folicles (that is as mild as I can make it) or watch designers make another awful outfit - (I pay $60 a month for this?) I would have committed Hari-Kari!
You can only sit in the freezing cold waiting for a train to materialize so long, reading until your eyes cross and eating out until you turn green is not good - so the Driver and I are taking up a new hobby. I told him I want to learn how to knit. He bought some books, some yarn, some needles and is learning so he can teach me. I learned to appreciate fly tying, fly fishing, acrylic painting, shooting keet and karate w/o participating and he took up train watching with me.
Not sure how we are going to do 2 needles and 4 hands…
Any pointers from all you knitters out there will be greatly appreciated. We seem to be stuck on the part right after you open the packages…
Ah - I love work!
Glad to see you all made it back ok. Santa was very good to me - he brought me a feather pillow. [8D] Comfort is # 1 priority in my life!
We’ve got a toasty 14 degrees here right now with highs in the 30s today.
good morning
brrr need some more hot chocolate please.yes mookie it can be frustraing sometimes when train traffic is lighter than normal. It just goes with the hobby.maybe you could email Carl’s wife pat for tips on knitting.she made matt a hat and gloves in about 45 minutes.I did hear from my brother in florida he has requested that we close the barn door.
stay safe
Joe
…J, you’re describing retirement…Those are the things you must overcome. '08 is our 15th year of it…and surviving.
By the way, it is 5.4 degrees here right now. This should be the last day in this series of this foolishness. Warmer, warmer…!
Good morning folks!
I think I’ll help my self to a bowl of that hot oatmeal with some butter melted on top, a few raisins and some brown sugar too! Thanks CW!
Speaking of cold weather, the ole mercury was showing 19 degrees in the back yard just before sun up this morning. Nothing like seeing the sun rise on a cold crisp morning. This oatmeal is warming me up now!
See you all later,
Ryan
Whew! Heat wave! All the way up to -5 from a low (around 8AM) of -17. Fortunately, it doesn’t appear the wind was as much of a factor as originally forecast. Still, the furnace is currently spending more time on than off.
Oatmeal, hot chocolate. Time for tea later. More housecleaning to do. Company Saturday. I live alone (with the two pups) so “clean & liveable” is more important than “immaculate…”
Larry, how about “semi clean and liveable”? [swg]
Everyone has the following choices for lunch/supper today:
leftover vegetable beef soup
beef stew
Plus cornbread to have with either the soup or the stew.
Geting ready to go to the grocery in a little bit, to get something for our supper here at home tonight. Thinking about some hamburger and Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper. That’ll last us for a couple of days. Currently up to 22 degrees outside. Still brrrrrrrrrr!!
Well, knitting classes on Monday nite for the next 5 weeks, starting next Monday. “And the ladies are so nice!”
I am expecting a whole new wardrobe by next winter. And I may never have to actually learn to knit! [}:)]
Small plaque over kitchen door: “My house is CLEAN enough to be healthy and DIRTY enough to be happy”
Cw
thanks for supper tonight.going to be another chilly one.matt and I were waiting for the q381 to come by and we heard a loud boom.An ethenol plant in defiance went boom and we heard it from a mile away in the country.csx was halted for awhile but then was allowed to move again. They had some injuries and evacuations but people are now back in their homes.anyway back to chores and work tonight.
stay safe
joe
Joe, glad to know no one died in the explosion, and that everyone is back home!
Larry, gonna have to find me one of the plaques for home.
Next round of beef stew, cornbread, and vegetable beef soup are on the warmer bar. Joe and Lance, containers are ready and in the cooler for you two for work tonight. You all have a great evening, and talk with you later!
I don’t recall where we found that plaque - probably in a souvenier shop somewhere.
Still above zero, but not by much. Hoping for nice weather on Saturday, as daughter and SIL are coming up for lunch and a visit (daughter hasn’t seen her Dal in a while). Meantime I’m still working on making the house presentable.
As an advance notice, Barbequed Chicken on March 16th - our annual fire department “St Patrick’s Day” Chicken Barbeque.
Now, where’s that broom?

Good Friday morning, folks! Thanks for the info, Larry; guess I’ll have to start looking around for one of those plaques. Maybe at a Peddlar’s Mall.
Coffee, fresh oj/oj/tangerine and grape juice, hot chocolate, hot tea, hot cider are ready; and on the warmer bar: turkey bacon, sausage, oatmeal, toast, scrambled eggs, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy, bagels and bear claws, all nice and warm, waiting for everyone.
Mookie, have your coffee mug down, w/coffee in it, all ready for you! Are you still working full days on Friday, or is that just in the summer? Can’t remember how that works for you.
Hope everyone has a great morning, and I’ll see ya later.
C W - My boss comes in after I do and sometimes leaves before I do, so it makes it a little less restricted. Besides everyone knows I like my job, so they pay no attention to my comings and goings.
We had a change at the top, so will probably work all summer like normal people. Going to become more like the rest of the world, which doesn’t bother me in the least.
Warmer weather for the weekend and I will make sure that we spread this all around. Paper predicts we will have a hotter than usual summer - pick your poison - bake or freeze.
Saw 2 NS engines on point last nite - along with a KCS, Ferro-Mex and BNSF headed to KC. Didn’t have that much freight, so figure a couple of them were here for maintenance and were going “home”. That was like going to a carnival - to see the different lines all at once. And I love the NS horns. They are mellow…
Friday - must rest a little then get ready for weekend rest… [tup]
