The Flat Wheel Diner and Cafe, January 2010 Edition

…All right…'49 and '50 era…by Teresa…Great happy music…!

Thanks Paula,

Tex Mex hit the spot.

Went to the movies after…saw Sherlock Holmes.

Not sure that those who have not read the books would follow the plot and catch all the interaction between the characters, but if you have read them, then the movie was interesting, if not, you might want to skip this one.

Hope everyone gets home safely tonight, if you did not go out, then so much the better.

Stay Frosty,

Ed

Well I remember how much you liked the multi-unit oven from a while back…so I did some haggling and got you a new serving bar complete with 3 rotisserie units, 4 warming pots for soups/stews, up to 8 hot stations (good for keeping the different items warm while waiting for guests), up to 8 cold stations (good for salads, cold cuts, fruit/veggies/etc, and a nice bakery display rack (great for Bearclaws!). No beverage service you say? The removable center has hot and cold beverage dispensers (3 each) so those should stay topped off for a while. Best part? Double-steam dishwasher unit to help keep things clean!

A (late) Merry Christmas for ya!

Good Friday morning, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! Ed, glad you liked your birthday supper!

And Dan, you are THE MAN! Thank you and bless you for the new warmer/cooler bar!! You know that will get a good workout around here!

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for hot tea are all ready to go. And on this brand new warmer/cooler bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, blueberry muffins, pancakes, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits, sausages, and sausage gravy.

I hope everyone enjoyed their New Year’s Eve, and if you were out and about, you made it home safely! Guess some of you will probably sleep until mid morning, so will keep everything refreshed and replenished, as needed.

good morning Happy New Year.

cw thanks for breakfast this morning.Lake Michigan is sending us some snow today.G+G had a great time here last night.Going to do some chores later then watch the Rose parade on TV.Everyone keep warm today.

stay safe

Joe

uh - Dan - ??? I fertilized your crops - can you redo my kitchen?

You’re welcome CW. I know it’ll get a good workout, the wheels on the bottoms should help in moving them all though.

[swg] I’ll see what I can do…lol.

11 above but not too much wind which is keeping the chill factor minimized today. Big day at work coming up…(Open House 10:30-3:30)…we should be swamped with folks wanting to join the Y. Last night Aedan (6 mos now!) left a present for 2009 at around 11:55 which I thought fitting for that year. Here’s hoping 2010 will be better for everyone!

Afternoon, all. Dan, that new serving station is working out just Dandy!! (No pun intended. )

I’ve been cooking up a storm in the kitchen all morning. On the serving station, you’ll find: turkey, dressing, green beans, broccoli w/cheese sauce, corn, mashed taters w/gravy, macaroni & cheese, macaroni salad, cole slaw, corned beef & cabbage, black eyed peas, and cornbread. And what is left from our Tex Mex supper last night.

Desserts: yellow cake w/chocolate icing, chocolate chip cookies, and there’s also boiled custard and egg nog (without the liquor in it).

Imagine most of you guys are watching the bowl games, so you can just grab what you want from the serving station during commercial breaks. Everyone have a good afternoon, keep warm and take care. Going to see what I can see on Facebook.

'Bout time we had a new jukebox in here. Those 78s must be worn out!!

(and no, I don’t want to listen to Mookie doin’ her karaoke turn!)

Be careful and safe.

Dennis

Yeah - we wore out the cylinders ages ago…

Sheesh - North Conway, NH made the weather channel for the snow it’s going to get. I’m in (actually near) North Conway tonight, getting ready to ride the Conway Scenic’s Steam Photo Special tomorrow. Looks like you’re going to see a lot of snowy pictures. There’s a bus coming out of Boston loaded with fans to ride - hopefully the weather won’t hold them up.

My ride over from NYS was snowy - and almost all on “regular” roads. Note to Vermont - your roads need some attention.

One highlight along the way, though, was running alongside the roadbed of the St Johnsbury and Lamoille County, which is now a trail for the most part. Even saw their covered bridge! The roadbed runs roughly parallel to VT15 and US2 for quite a way.

Gotta make sure the cameras are ready for tomorrow.

well I’ll take some hot chocolate. We watched the Rose Bowl over at G+G house. The moon is out and very bright and its very chilly outside now.Larry hope you don’t get snowed in.Matt is going to bed.I am going to head for bed myself.

I got the biscuits & gravy going. Coffee in the pot & OJ in the pitcher. Minus 7 at my place today. Maybe Barbara & I will go into the cities to see the Chipmunks today.

Good Saturday morning, all! Bob, you did a fantastic job on the biscuits & gravy. Thank you, very much. I’ve got the sausages, bacon, and scrambled eggs ready to go on the Food Station (thanks again, Dan!)

We have a temp of 12 degrees this morning, and will get up to 23, maybe 24 today. And these bitter cold temps are to be with us most of next week.

Everyone have a great day, keep very warm, stay safe and take care.

good morning

Bob thanks for breakfast this morning.Going to do some chores then go into town.We will try to see what csx has running but with wind chills at 0 (or below) we won’t be out too long.Matt requests a pepperoni and mushroom pizza for tonight.

stay safe

Joe

Good morning. 26 degrees in Carolina at sunrise. I have been up most of the night on the wireless, chasing some deaf guy in New Caledonia. I guess this one will take several nights to accomplish. Paula and Bob, thanks for breakfast and everyone have a great day

Good Morning–

Kinda snowsqually this morn. Had the blower out twice last night/this morning—musta cleared about 16" of the stuff off the driveway. Went with neighbour to do the elderly ladies homes as well—probably going to have to do this again later as they’re calling for about another 12-16" by tonight----[:-^] It was snowing so hard that there was literally a whiteout from snow fall itself—with no blowing snow.

Got some survival food getting to try and get accomplished --all roads are now plowed but-----[:-^]

Thanks for the breakfast and coffee—have a safe day if’n you’re out doin’ shopping

Morning all…

-3 out right now, supposed to get to 8 above today, with a stiff wind. Glad the pickup is inside in a heated garage, would be a little tricky getting it running if it was outside today.

Bought a new desk for my room in the apartment, so set up a small test track to play with my new purchases, an Atlas SD35, and Athern Genesis F45s. The Fs are already painted for Wisconsin Central, the SD35 will need paint and decals. Luckily, got an airbrush for christmas, but unfortunately, the compressor that came with was damaged, still trying to get an answer from company (it’s an off-brand). Smokey, one of our two cats, loves to sit on top of the desk and look out the window, she does not know what to make of the trains, though.

Thanks for breakfast, see everyone later…

Good morning! It’s cold here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, my hometown may be one of the coldest spots in the country right now. Right now we have a temp of -33 degrees below 0, to say nothing of what the wind chill factor might be. I don’t think I will leave my house at all today. Everyone stay warm!

Ray ooo ooo ooOOOOOo

Wow…that’s cold. I’ve seen temps that cold, but not here. This morning early, we were reading 12 degrees and calm. Started with bright sunshine and then all of a sudden, we had a 5 min. snow shower…of very light dry stuff and now the sun is bright and really warm coming thru our south facing windows. Actually, my chair sitting by the sliding glass door in the family room…{has a storm door too}, was getting too warm, had to move.

Just a skiff of snow overnight. Everyone be careful and stay warm.
