Tom - hope you are going to hospital just to sample the incredible food…
Joe - heading for e-mail!
Hurry back Tom…{you’re “girls” need you}…Hope it’s just the one day.
Good Thursday morning, and HAPPY VETERANS DAY to all our men and women who have served and are currently serving our country! I wish we had a USA Flag Smiley: that would be nice to have, or a smiley for each of the Armed Forces branches. Anyway, thank you for all that you have done and are currently doing for our country. You deserve to be treated with respect and honored more often than you are. [tup] [tup]
Tom, I hope everything goes well for you, and that you won’t be in the office more than a day. Get well soon.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, including some hot cider for the mudchicken, to help thaw him out.
Regular breakfast fare is on the serving station.
Has anyone ever heard or eaten at Cheddar’s Casual Cafe? That is where we had dinner/supper last night? Very good atmosphere, food was very good, and we could even watch fishies in the aquarium that was two tables across the way from where we sat. Has any of you ever had fish tacos? Those are very, very good. I have heard of them (in a book that I’ve read from the library), but have never seen them on a menu anywhere around here, not even at Taco Bell. Anyhoo, if you ever get a chance to eat at Cheddar’s, go for it. I think you’ll enjoy it.
Everyone have a good morning, take care, and I’ll see you all sometime later.
Have a Good Remembrance Day people.
Welb, it is supposed to get to the mighty 52F today—on Friday we’ll be at 60F in the sunshine[:D]
We have had a good day’s worth of travelling around yesterday–now I have to unload the camera of about 180 pix off of it—[:-^]
One good thing about digital photography–can take boodles of pix and be able to delete the bad ones—[(-D]
Have a good day peoples!![swg]
That’s why I don’t buy a digital. I would spend all my spare time deleting my pix. Everyone knows I am a horrible bowler, pool shooter and now photo-taker. My best shot was and still is, my foot!
21 degrees here. Indian Summer over! Rain tomorrow…why couldn’t we have had a little rain when it was 70?
Coffee, please. Then off to check the fridge for l-o pizza! Might even pull on the drumstick of that chicken CW has in there. [(-D]

Ms Mook - One nice thing about most digital cameras is that you can see the results of your shot right then and there (albeit on a smallish screen) and may be able to make corrections and shoot again. That’s as opposed to waiting for the pictures to come back from the processor.
You also don’t have to worry about conserving film. In the mode I usually leave my Digital Rebel I can shoot over 500 images before I run out of memory (haven’t gotten there yet). Of course, that will take both memory cards and probably two of the three batteries I have for it, but still…
Unless I absolutely know I took a rotten picture I never delete anything until I get to the computer, where I can see what I did with some detail. Even what looks like a lousy shot will sometimes contain something of value, and I can often crop or otherwise process the image into something useful.
Even the point-and-shoot cameras have pretty good image size these days, and the price is usually reasonable, too.
Of course, I did buy an external hard drive so
Mr. Tree - you also have beautiful scenery to shoot, family that doesn’t live about an arm’s length away and constant coal trains that look exactly alike each time by and have never fallen over in front of me.
I have seen other people use digital and it is a whole lot better than the Brownie I used as a kid. But I seem to have reached the point that I don’t need that shoebox in my closet collecting pix any more. I gave everything to my daughter (part of downsizing) and now just look at other’s pictures and enjoy them.
Plus - I wouldn’t recognize any of my family members if they didn’t have a cell phone and a digital camera stuck on their head.
So for me - I need to move to another location, make sure there is more variety in trains, take a photography class and then have The Driver take the photos. (he’s great at it)
[sigh]
…So far, we seem to be having rather nice Fall weather. It is actually mild outside right now. And again, sunny with blue skies. Should be a really nice day. Almost no wind.
Cameras: The product {hardware}, took such a fast turn from film over to digital. I believe it caught many of us by surprise. Personally, I had purchased a decent Canon EOS film camera with a very likeable lens: 28 to 200mm range {loved the versatility of it}, but sadly hadn’t had it very long until the onslought of digital. I was shocked at the speed it changed, from film to digital.
That camera has been in my camera drawer now for over two years or more…{time gets away}, and has not been used.
So I held back and perhaps from a bit of disapointment, languished in wondering what to do. First we purchased an inexpensive digital…and used it for a while. It kind of did fine to take pic’s. to download on here…And as Jen indicated…we already have several drawers full of packages of print photos. So this change helped that situation, now just download onto the computer and delete what is not wanted.
So…finally, decided to take a step up just a bit, and ended up with one of Canon’s PowerShot units. Good zoom range…3" LCD screen to view pic’s…10 mp ability…compact in size…installed memory card that can handle up to 1400 shots…rechargeable batteries…and AA size, not rare expensive ones…and putting that together, and my non professonal needs of doing shots…has left me very satisfied with what it can do. More manual settings and features that I’ll ever need 'nor use. And I am very pleased with it’s performance.
Just my [2c] contribution.
Winter is coming - had two days of it so far. Just grateful that the Weatherliar U. science lab project is still disfunctional
I had a fairly decent Nikon camera, until one of the cats (not current ones) decided to knock it off the chest of drawers. A four foot drop to the floor did not do the camera any good. Now, whenever I do get the opportunity to take a picture, I use the first Kodak digital camera I got for Walt. I don’t often take pictures anymore, because I seem to have a problem now of keeping my hands steady, when trying to take a picture.
For our supper tonight, we have:
-
Chicken abracadbra w/onion & potatoes, green beans, and baked cornbread.
-
Lasagna w/your choice of garlic bread or Italian bread and tossed salad.
I hope everyone enjoys, have a good evening and you all take care.
[{(-_-)}] Running on Empty…[:-^] Lasagne will take care of that! [dinner]
MC - preserve wings - keep snow. Send only moisture. [um]
What exactly is chicken abracadabra? It makes me think of tuna surprise. (The surprise is the marshmallows.[(-D]
That would be interesting—[:-^]
Megh.
My camera is an older 5 MP Canon Powershot. I’ve only just recently started working on things like textural shots like this one

and some landscapy types of things like this:

Of course in the modelrailroader forums I’ve done more elevator shots or quarry shots—

I spent the better part of the afternoon in the urologist’s office and have to wait until the tests come back before knowing if I go inpatient for a couple of days. I have to go have some xrays in the morning, too. It is beginning to look like Monday at the earliest if I have to be admitted. Thanks for the kind wishes.
It was a beautiful day here, sunny blue sky and temp around 70. I could go for more like this!
^~^
Good Friday morning everyone. We have a cool 46 degrees here in Louisville this morning, going for a high of 77 today with plenty of sunshine.
Barry, Chicken Abracadbra is my version of the Crock Pot’s recipe for Pork Chop Abracadbra: instead of browing pork chops, putting them in the pot w/a can of cream soup or salsa or picante sauce, I brown chicken, and add onion and potatoes. Then, it cooks in the Crock Pot for about 6 hours on high. Or, you can put the pot on the low setting (if you’re going to be gone all day), and it will be ready to eat when you get home.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. On the serving station, we have the regular breakfast menu, along with a small selection of doughnuts and danish.
We watched a very good movie last night: Out to Sea with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemon. Also had Diane Cannon, Edward Mulhare, Hal Lindon, Dennis O’Connor, an all-star cast, including Gloria DeHaven. Haven’t seen her in anything for years. Saw some others in the movie, and later, I’ll do a Google search and see whose names belong to faces who looked familiar, but couldn’t remember their names.
Mookie, here’s you coffee mug, and what would you like to have to eat this morning?
Must have slept crooked last night, as I seem to have awakened with a crick in my neck. Having a little bit of trouble moving my head to the left s
Maybe coffee, coffee, coffee and how about 2 small pancakes and scribbled eggs?
Nice birdywash overnite. Not too warm this morning, but above freezing. Hear we are going to have an up and down winter season. And that is just our thermostat…
Are we close to spring again?
