Depends on your definition of largest. PRR built one huge tank car with eight wheel trucks that is in a museum somewhere. Highet weight carrying cars are called Schnabel cars. An internet search will amaze you at their length and weight carrying capacity.

In the late 60s, a number of tank car builders made large capacity cars having 6-wheel trucks and at least one model with 4 trucks in a span bolster configuration. And don’t forget the Vert-A-Pac auto carriers, these unique carriers of the GM Vega were built on F-89 flat cars.

Depends on what you call a car.

Container stack cars sometimes have five or six units, with a truck BETWEEN units rather than at the end of each unit. The whole assembly counts as one “car”, 200 to 300 feet long, with one official car number.

And how would you count the Georgetown RR self-unloading rock train, with an integral conveyor that runs unit to unit through the train?
