I believe the answer is “D” or seven schemes.
I don’t do very well with the eastern stuff, but I’ll give it a go. I’m going to say “C - 6” I can think of 5 regular ones, plus somehow I sort of remember seeing pictures of a few orange things, MofW maybe?
It seems to me, I’ve seen many different ones in photos. Therefore, I’ll go with the high number: D.7

There are so many variants that any answer you can give is going to be debated. I can come up with seven, including the “pumpkin” paint.
You’ll have to quote a source on this one, I’m afraid.
I’ll have to agree with Carl on this,counting the “pumpkin”,I came up with eight.
I’m changing my answer to 7 that includes the Pumpkin ones. Now if you want to include all the test ones. Well then I think the number comes to 10 or 11 and thats not counting all the ones that have white roofs added. This total may even be low.

What’s a CSX pumpkin[?]
That was the MOW paint scheme. They were painted orange with black CSX lettering. Ugliest things that I ever seen.

WOW!! Looks like D&HRR hits it on the head. 7 was the correct answer but I gues I missed a few.
Believe it or not I like the CSX. Well I like all railroads for that matter.
