It was supposed to be the Philadelphia and Western and go across the state but $$$$ ran out and or the it was supposed be to be part of the NYC route that was supposed to shadow the Pennsy?? Anyway thats antidote story I keep getting
The Philadelphia & Western’s charter was as a steam road. The plans to make it part of the Gould empire fell apart before it was even opened. See “Pig & Whistle”, CERA Bulletin 140 by Ronald DeGraw.
I had to do a little digging but the Norristown Line would have hooked up with the Western Maryland at York PA and then headed west from there down the WM, then to Hagerstown then to Connelsville then west on the Wabash Pittsburgh Extension— rather convoluted route on a Alphabet road. I assumed it was a Vanderbilt route but this was a Gould Venture and the Goulds were the outlaws of railroads
