I was in Huntington WV yesterday on business and the place is crawling with CSX motive power. On the East end of the town is a massive building with the CSX logo, seemsed like dozens of locos outside. Is this one of CSX’s main locomotive maintenance locations?
I watch CSX all the time. Syracuse NY area - I live about 5 minutes from their DeWitt NY Yard… They also serve a beer distributor in my area who’s spur runs along the side of my street. So, I see them (CSX) about 2-3x’s weekly! I’m also going to model the distributor and spur on my pike when I get that far.

I don’t know Troy, but near me there is an Intermodal yard just south of Atlanta. Never been there, but it sounds like a great spot for railfannng.
I see at least two trains daily in my area. My workplace is less than half a mile from the CSX main line. Peachtree City isn’t really an urban area, but there are at least five grade crossings within three miles of Falcon Field, a small airport serving Fayette County, GA.
Hey!!! Anyone out there???
No, I’m a Norfolk Southern fan myself. But we share Conrail’s assists (we both wanted it all). So we work together. The old NYC line running through my town of Dearborn is a shared assist line.
I do have a CSX GP-38 in the RED BLOCK paint scheme, A 4-8-4 C&O Hudson, a BL2 that will be done in C&O colors and a Pere Marquette train set with two EMD E-6’s and an unknown quanity of freight cars.
By the way, do you know what “RED BLOCK” was?
Huntington is a major CSX locomotive facility.
Absolutely! Huntington was the former C&O’s ‘flagship’ loco facility - just as Cumberland (MD) was for the B&O. I’m glad to see it’s still active.

Operation RedBlock is an educational program of the AAR(?) to curb alcohol/drug abuse among railroad personnel.
That’s interesting.
Does anyone know how to post a picture in a post???

You need to have a website somewhere that allows you to upload files (JPEG images). I have my own website at trainweb.org (see the link on my signature), whenever I want to share a photo (or 2, or 3,…) with the trains.com gang, I upload it to my website, view it, capture the link [via CTRL+C] from the ‘address’ bar in my browser, then paste the link [via CTRL+V] into the trains.com message text.
Contact me offline (see profile for email address) if you want further details on how to do this.

Open two browsers. One opened to the Forums “POST NEW REPLY” page and one for the web host.
First you need a host for your photos. I use Ripway Web Hosting. There are limitations but It’s free. http://www.ripway.com/index.asp
Second, on the Forums “POST NEW REPLY” page, find the “INSERT IMAGE” icon on the format icons. Click on it and you will see
Once you have the photo uploaded on the Ripway site and you are on the “MY FILES” page, look at the URL: for that photo and copy and paste it between the brackts on the “POST NEW REPLY” page.
Click on the “PREVIEW” button and a preview window will pop up. If you did it correctly, you will see your photo.
p.s. Keep the photos on the small side about 25-50k.
In the above text, I put a space between the [ and the img so you could see the code. If I didn’t all you would see is a box with an X in it
testing picture insertion
I have been very busy, and therefore had not much time to be on the forums. Do any of you guys have interesting CSX info, or is this topic gonna go to page 360??
Seek, and ye shall find http://www.railpictures.net/index.php
How’s the picture posting going? any problems?
i posted the picture!!!

csxguy,
Do you have the full web address of the image you tried to post? If so, could you post that [address] by itself? I’m checking to see why your attempted post came up empty…
