I have to admit that I am grieving the loss of the old CTT forums. I hosted the Prewar American Flyer Pictures thread for 17 years. True the photo links for many of the early pictures were broken, but in my opinion there was a tremendous amount of good collector information there that is inaccessible now. I was banned from another site for not being willing to pay for the privilege of posting my photos and observations. So I have wandered in the wilderness. I have subscriptions to 3 Firecrown publications, so I will see what things are like here now. I see the names of some folks I know here. Photos will come in the future and I am working on a new layout and documenting new items for my collection.
Glad to see/hear from you again, you’ve been missed!
Your prewar flyer thread was always a delight to look through, and I always enjoyed reading your comments on pieces that you showed.

Thanks El, I hope to continue the tradition, and repost some photos from the past.
Greg! It’s a real pleasure to see you here!
Steve
Glad you are back! Even though we lost some some great archives with the transition to the new forum, this has been an improvement from a functional standpoint. I haven’t been active on here in quite a while just because my login would not work, even with attempts to help from the hosts. Now my login is working fine, and I can post pics without needing a Shutterfly account.
Looking forward to seeing more Flyer posts!
Hi Steve,
I got your message through the old Forum system but I could not find a way to respond to you. I’m hoping there is a way to share email addys through this version of the Forum. In any case, I’m glad to see you here too,
Thanks JamesP. So far I am able to navigate through this site. I have very few of my photos saved on my computer. Posting from Shutterfly appears to be fairly easy as it was before.
Hello
Greetings.
Greg, I have a question that you might know the answer to: is there a source anywhere for brushes and springs for a Flyer #4000 motor?
Steve
Steve,
My knowledge of parts suppliers is almost non-existent. Repair and replacement is one area of the hobby that I have not pursued - yet. Let me check with some of my other collecting friends and I will see what I can find out.
Greg
Try Port Lines Hobby Supplies online. I have bought replacement parts for my American Flyer locos from Port Lines.

I’m not 100% sure of what they’ve got but I know Henning’s Trains does stock Flyer parts.
henningstrains.com They’re well worth checking into.
And welcome back Northwoods Flyer!
Thanks, Greg!
And I didn’t mean to hijack the thread!
Thanks, Rich. Unfortunately, the site’s store is closed for maintenance; apparently, the proprietor is having some minor surgery done. I’ll check back.
Unfortunately, Hennings told me they don’t have them, Flintlock. They were my first check. Jeff the Train Tender may have some that will fit, but I want to check around before taking the chance (not expensive, but still).
Best of luck to you then!
You may want to check on eBay. Apparently the parts are available from time to time but I don’t know who the vendor is.
You didn’t hijack the thread. It didn’t have any particular direction or destination in the first place.
I am thinking of restarting a Prewar American Flyer Pictures thread in the near future. It will be fun to see what it turns up.
