Hi guys!! Today went down to the the train show. I brought a athearn loco (NS GP-38 loco Ho) and a Kato Bethgon coalporters to sell . i sold the loco for $40 store credit. I picked out 3 videos and 2 Cheap LL and Bachman freight cars. I then went ot my LHSs stand and traded the coal porters for a GP 38 Maine Central N scale by Atlas. I also bought a Custom painted Atlas loco it was a Green moutain Gp-40 loco. Painted by Dream designs. The LHS has had it for a while so i got it for $80[8D] It was origannly $185, then dropped to $145. He said $100 but i got him to 80.I think i got a good deal??? How was your train show?? Tim
I went yesterday and had a great time…there must have been 20,000 people there by noontime if the huge parking lot is any indication.
I bought a new Tsunami with power control & sound, for $72. I will install that into my P2K Berkshire. I also bought a engine house for $48 , three stall with add-on capability. I also noticed they had the new Walthers 130’ turntable there for $149…that is a good prices seeing the LHS have it for $199. I also saw Tortoises for $13, another good price. Many people had all sorts of locomotives at attractive prices, new and old, and cars for as little as $1 or quantities for $10.
Got a Chessie SD35 by atlas for $70.00 and a CSX SD70 by Athearn Genesis for 50.00 both new. Athearn price was great Atlas good. Lots of freight cars Athearn RTR for $6.00 to $9.00. Over all a great show. I spent more on gas to get there from NJ than I saved, but it was worth it. Joe A.
Yeah, lots of fun and things to look at. Mostly, I picked up detail parts (like for a gas station and machine shop) and a couple of beer reefers. I went Sunday, and I didn’t think it was overly crowded. The drive is a bit over an hour and a half for me, but it was worth it to see this show.

Estimate for Saturday is a little high, the actual number was 12,632. Two day attendance came to 21,003. Did anyone go to the Steaming Tender in Palmer after the show?
I had two great days at the show . Bought a BLI switcher for $125 which I thought was a good deal and a host of other bits and pieces and met many a good folk . We went to the Steaming Tender on the way in on Friday . It has to be one of the best locations for a resturant anywhere ,if you’re into railways ,we had a bit of a wait for a table-- about 45 mins-- time for a beer or three. The food was excellent I couldn’t fault it. It is definitely on the schedule for next years visit. CPPedler
How many trains did you catch while having your evening meal?
Well I went to the show on Saturday only because I had training on Sunday!! SAD I really wanted to be there both days with my train club. Saturday was great though. I spent so much time runing around all three buildings trying to find the best deals on Norfolk Southern SD70M, Dash 9 orSD60M. I had a pad with the number above for the area I was in and ran into many prices.
AA Hobbies won for me at $40 for a P2K SD60M Norfolk Southern.
I also purchased a Digitrax decoder for it for $20.
A Digitrax hard wire decoder for my brass engine for $15
A very fun day for sure!!!
i wish i know about it i miss a lot of good train shows.
Waltersrails - that was Springfield, Massachusetts.
And I’m already looking back at the stuff I should have bought, but didn’t…
I enjoyed it.
While i’m glad i sent little, im sad I didn’t find what I was looking for.
I stopped at the Steaming tender on the way back, saw a CSX manifest and NECR manifest.
Here is what you missed:
