three questions re Amtrak & Silver Star

In a few weeks I’ll be taking the Silver Star Philadelphia-
Ft.Lauderdale & return

  1. What is the scanner freq for the on-board staff?
  2. At Jacksonville there is an Amtrak P-32BWH on a siding
next to the station. Is this a switching loco. Any switching
I have seen here is done by other switchers. Is the P-32
classified as a switcher or a road unit as I have seen it
doing both services? Is this unit just on standy in case of
    regular trains breaking down?
3 With the CSX track work being done between Richmond &
RockyMount, Passengers are being bussed to Tampa
How does this affect the scheduling between between
    Lakeland-Ft,Laud or Lakeland-Phi. I have asked Julie’s
agents at Amtrak & none of them seem aware of this work
    or any Amtrak slow orders.
  1. There is no On Board Staff frequency they don’t have radios
  2. No the P32 is the Jacksonville Protection Locomotive in the event one dies they have 1 ready to go as of Dec of 05 it was 516.
  3. It doesn’t effect the time table that I know of they just make 1 Lakeland Stop also the bussing is Southbound only.
