I was looking through a November '93 issue of MR and read the review of Throttle Up!'s Sound Traxx diesel sound system. It looks pretty neat. Anyone know more about it? I wouldn’t be as interested in the in-cab speaker feature as I would the under-the-table factor, so to speak. Anyone know where I might be able to get a nice used one, or if it is worth it?
Thanks!
Acela
PS–for those of you who have the MR DVD set, it is in the November 1993 issue, pages 51-2 and 59.
Here’s the link on their website. This is something we were looking at before going all DCC with a lot of mobile sound decoders in the locos. I’ve done something in yards like this, with just consisting decoders and a big under the table speaker–much less expensive as I recall(one reason we do this at those locations is due to switchers being small and yards being relatively small compared to entire layout). But, obviously it won’t follow the train, etc like this does.
Very few people ran these systems as far as I could find. ebay is your obvious first choice for finding a used one. But it’s recently been updated so, be sure of what you’re getting.
