My first post after lurking for over a month.
I’m planning on constructing my first “O” layout. I’m in the early stages of research.
GarGraves track is available in “tin plated” or “stainless steel”. Other than cost, what are the pros and cons of each?
I like the wooden ties as well.
All comments and recommendations for a newbee are welcome.
Thanks guys
JT
First, a big# WELCOME.
Unless you have a high humidity area, or are going to run outside, the stainless track would be a luxury. Though you wouldn’t have to worry about ever scrubbing off the tin plating with cleaning. Any magnitration engines you have would not have the advantage of the magnetic grip.
I used the tin plate Gargrave flex track with wood ties and Ross switches. I rust painted the outside rails and am more than satisfied with the looks and performance.
Thanks Roger. I am planning Ross and Gargrave w/wood with paint as well.
Appreciate the info
You can also solder leads to the tinplate but need to use spade lugs or some other means of connecting power wires/sensors/jumpers.
