Tips needed for a noisy loco..

A while back I took a chance on a Bach. Spectrum N scale F7 a/b unit (New in Box) on sale at a hobby shop. Well, the A unit it runs like a little meat grinder…when you add the powered B unit, it runs like 2 little meat grinders. I’ve checked all the internals and they are in place and I lubed according to the instructions. After about an hour break in they are a bit better, but not by much.

Are there any tricks for these engines that I can try before dumping them into to the spare parts bin???

I have a Spectrum SD45 (N) that runs great and is why I decided to try the F7 duo. Also, I think I have become spoiled with my Kato Mike…I love that thing and it runs like a top, maybe my expectations are too high.

Any help would be appreciated ----Rob

Here’s a link to a bachmann forum with a possible cause. They have other notes in the forums. Just hit search and type noisy.
