I am a 25 yr old guy looking to get on as a conductor with NS railroad. I have already had my application in once and got an email stating they could not consider me futher at that time, so I talked to a supervisor friend who told me to keep resubmitting it. Is there any tips that anyone knows of that can help me to get on? Tips on what my application/resume need to reflect and tips on the interviewer process/ hiring sessions. Are they casual? What are some of the questions I’ll be asked and what could possible help and/or hurt me about getting on? I am a hard worker and am currently a mig welder/ driver.
Your a non-smoker (even if you do, you don’t Kapish!) and your willing to relocate.
Thanks for the reply.
I am a non-smoker, in fact I have never smoked or used alcohol. I do not really want to re-locate but NS is hiring in my area. I don’t mind hard work and I don’t mind weather, travel, or odd shifts. I have worked night shift and day shift and graveyard shift. I am use to 12 hr days and sometimes more than that. I have no criminal history except for one traffic ticket, and I have never used illegal substances. I know it is a very competive process and I am looking for any kind of help you guys can give.
jobhunt, DON’T say that you are a railfan they will not hire you at all. So am i!!! but it will be an engineneer for Genesee & Wyoming or (GWI). If i get a second phone call for the second interview.
