Today, Dec. 15, in railroad history

1961: MoPac discontinues St. Louis-Pacific (Mo.) “Kirkwood Eagle”, reputed as the only commuter train in between Chicago and San Francisco. (Read that one twice-I had trouble with it too!)

1976: Derailment of Amtrack San Francisco Zephyr in Nebraska blamed on SDP40F diesels: BN temporarily bans the units, and Amtrack ultimately replaces them with the F40PH.

1986: VIA gets first GM F40PH-2’s

Anybody else?[:)]
