Today, Dec.9th, in railroad history (nothing happened yesterday?)

John W. Barriger III,77,influential railroad president and architect of “super railroads” acclaimed as rail renaissance man, dies in St. Louis. What year?______

I’ve heard this name before, but can’t quite place him. Can anybody fill me in?

Anybody else?

Started out with PRR, apparently worked with 9 other RRs throughout his career.

Year was 1976. John W. Barriger seems to be most famous for his association with The Monon Railroad. (?)
