Tourist Flee Grand Canyon Fire--Any News on the RR ???

Currently 32 large fires are burning in 8 western states. [:0] Across northern Nevada 80,000 acres have or are burning. In Arizona, tourist were rescued from lodges and campgrounds on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon as fires approached within 30 miles of the area. Near Gallina, New Mexico, 120 were evacuted as fires threatened that area.

Well over 3 million acres of wildfires this year have taken their toll on forest and grasslands. Grass fires in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas have increased the normal total of 1.2 million acres (normal at this time in the season) to 3.3 million acres.

So, does anyone have any news about the Grand Canyon Railway?

The fire is on the North Rim, the GCRR goes from Williams to the South Rim. It should not be in any danger.

North rim is very remote, no wonder they got people out of there at 30 miles distance, takes long enought get in or out of there with no crisis. Hopefully everyone there got the word, roads are scarce and they probably didnt want to risk jamming the roads that are there.

GCRR serves the south rim which so far to the best of my knowledge is unaffrcted by the fires [;)]
