Tower 55 vs Overland models

Boy it seems they have been making those two railroad companies forever. The thing I want to ask you is which train company do you think is worth the money with the best qualitiy of sound, pulling ounces and DCC?

sincerely

Ryan LaPlaca

They are the same company. Tower 55 is the brand name they use for the plastic line of models. The Overland brand are brass.

Tower55 IS Overland, the plastic model division of Overland. Tower55 makes plastic locomotives with almost as much detail as brass, with the same motors used in the Overland brass models, for a fraction of the price of brass. That doesn’t make them cheap, but a whole lot more afforable than a brass model.

An additional note - Tower 55 is a division of Overland Models. They were established to produce high quality plastic models. The Tower 55 locomotives can be purchased with DCC and sound installed, but as far as I know, Overland Brass does not offer either sound or DCC as an installed option.

Tower 55 has the best sound, since the other side of the house does not offer sound. The Overland is the best Brass since the other side does not offer brass.

The Tower 55 brand is the best buy for the money, since the same brass model will cost you three times as much. For one brass diesel, you can have three Tower 55 if you use the list price as the comparision.

Remember, Brian Marsh owns both Tower 55 and Overlan

Overland does indeed offer DCC. It has come in their last run of the big Alcos, and is also due in their run of RS3’s.
