I’m a fix’in to get back into toy trains again. Now, I got my first Lionel Xmas of 47. A Scout set. I’ve had Lionel all the way up into the 50’s so I am familiar with that. I am not, however, familiar with the new Fast Track. I can see where the operating cars would not be a problem as the coal dump and log dump cars dump into a bin. Now, will others like the milk car and cattle car platforms work on both the old tubular track as well as the new fast track? If I buy a new milk car will the platform work on tubular track, as that is the track I plan on building my layout with. I quess what I’m asking here is will the new stuff work with the old style track? All my experience with Lionel is from the older coil wound coupler days. Thanks, Ken
If you have the correct uncoupling track in tubular it should be no problem, should be a five rail track with an electro-magnet in the center and have four wires that hook up to it.
Also a quick note about cabooses on frieght trains, they are not totally dead yet as some parts of Virginia & one or two other states still require a caboose for a certain weight or length train.

We have a modern Lionel milk car platfrom, and it works fine with FasTrack. No modifications were needed to be done to the FasTrack to make the platform fit. It will indeed work with old style tubular track just as well.
