I am using a friend’s Digitrax DB150 to operate my in progress layout. Up until this afternoon everything was running fine. I attempted to readdress a new locomotive on an isolated program track. When I ran the sequence according to the book the message flashed good. Put the locomotive on the main and the address remained at 3. Tried a few times with no success. Now I have power to the track, program track is disconnected but none of the locomotives operate, short of one that comes on but does not react to any address or throttle command. Any ideas? Thanks.
I’m not familiar with that precise system (I believe it’s what Digitrax calls the “Empire Builder”?) but here’s a video from Digitrax about programming:
BTW why isn’t there a programming track connected anymore?
Thank you, this was helpful. There is a programming track connected, but after watching this video that might be the original issue since the DB150 only programs on the main. Not sure what the config connections are for. Appreciate the video link, off to the workshop to try and fix this. Have a great day.
If you’re able to program any CVs, maybe try changing CV1 (short address) to like the last two digits of the engine number and see if it responds to that.
Thanks, that’s what I did yesterday and it worked. For some reason it won’t take a 4 digit # but I have a new PR4 coming so I can use JMRI to reprogram them. At least I got them running again. Thanks for your help, really appreciate it.
Glad to be of help! CV1 will handle addresses up to I believe 127, after that it’s spread out over two CVs. Plus you have to have the right number in CV29 to allow long addresses. Some DCC systems will change CV29 and the long address CVs automagically, others you have to do it all yourself.
