track questions

I might be wrong here but did Classic Toy Trains do an article about track selection from the many maker of it that are out there. I was thinking it was an article like the one they just done on power packs/transformers.

If so could some one tell me how to find it.

I am trying to figure out what type of track will give me the best bang for the buck. I own items from the pre to post war era up to new items just made. So I need something that will work well with all of those items & not look to bad either.

Looks like every one is doing the sectional curved track in a wide range of radius so I do not think I would need to worry about bending my own curves.

If any one could help I would appreciate it very much.

Thank you & take care.

Ed,

I looked in the index and there was an article in Oct 06 issue on track and manufacturer, maybe if you can locate it the info you are looking for is there. If my memory isn’t messing with me I am almost sure there was another article but can’t remember where and when. [%-)]

Ed,

If you want the best bang for your dollar tubular track or GarGraves track may be the best way to go as you can cut and fit tubular track much easier than the newer track with roadbed built-in. Also switches won’t cost as much.
