I am currently using the MTH Digital Command System on a layout I am building. I have run several engines and tested the DCS signal strength and it is very low 2-3. I have wired the various track sections per MTH recommendations, they are straight runs from a termnal block, I even wired in a 18 volt light bulb. Is there any other way to boost they signal. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Suggestions are always clean track. I have lighted lockon [using Realtrax] about every 6 feet apart. Also, might insulate the center rail at one place so it is not making a loop. I have heard that helps with signal problems. What kind of track? I’m think that might be it. Never ever had that problem.
How big of a transformer are you using?
I also use lighted lock ons about every 6 feet and have good strength thoughout the layout and I have some very long runs. I am using a Z4000 and set the control at 18 volts.
Look at the bottom of your TIU and see what rev level it is. The I3a had problems with track signal. MTH does a free repair on it if this is the problem.
