I am new to Model railroading. I plan on constructing the the Union Pacific lay out as featured in “N Scale Model Railroading” by Robert Schleicher. The closest hobby shop is some 75 miles away and I need help on wiring this layout. I plan on purchasing a DCC unit. What else do I need and where do I make connections.

What you need is a book or books, because there’s not enough time or space to elaborate on all the nuances of DCC wiring. I recommend DCC Made Easy and Easy Model Railroad Wiring. You can order them online by clicking on the links. DCC Made Easy hasn’t come off the press yet, but Easy Model Railroad Wiring covers the essentials of wiring for DCC.

Well I sure messed up the previous attempt to post a reply.
I looked at the Digitrax web page for the requirements of a basic operating system and it would be kinda vague to someone who hasn’t actually had hands on the items.
