Track Work on Capitol Route

I’m planning on riding AMTRAK’s Capitol Limited in a couple of weeks, but have noted that the train’s been very late in the past week or so. When I called AMTRAK, they said it’s due to CSX repairing the tracks. Does anyone know if these delays are going to continue over the next couple of weeks?

If the plan is followed the recent work ended on June 17th and more work will start on July 6th. It will be done Monday through Thursday, 11 hours per day until September 9th.

They finished the crossing I cross every weekday on the 17th. They really did a great job. They had replaced the lights a couple of weeks before, then tore up the crossings and approaches and really smoothed them out. It was interesting that they put down enough materials between the tracks to make the 2 lane road a 4 lane road (would not count on that as it is in a neighborhood). This was in Maryland just north of DC (Hyattsville).

They either got PUC permission to widen the crossing to keep bozos from falling off the hard shoulder or you’re going to see lots more hi-rails setting on or off. ( a residential sidestreet is much more preferred so that you are not setting on/ off and ducking moron motorists at the same time…)

Work around Brunswick has been ongoing. and the crossing work here is sad (A 5 year old probably could have done better). Most work is done though.
