Sorry to disagree here but Betty Squires is completely wrong. The industrial revolution began in 1760 in Great Britain not in 1859 in Pennsylvania. The Oil and Gas industry was started in 1859 at the Drake Well as Melissa Mann rightly stated.
Great story and I’d love to visit, but there is more than the one historical clanger noted by Barry Steel. The oil and gas industry in North America kicked off a year before the Drake Well in Ontario.
